Energy-Efficient Heritage: Saving Power, Preserving Place

September 24 @ 16:00 - 18:30

How can you make your historic building more enviornmentally sustainable—and become more financially sutainable in the process?

Energy-Efficient Heritage is a practical online workshop for heritage, community, and creative organisations using historic buildings and spaces across the West Yorkshire Combined Authority districts. This session will explore how you can reduce energy use and carbon impact while preserving the unique identity of your heritage site.

From simple, low-cost actions to longer-term investments, you’ll gain the knowledge and tools needed to make informed decisions about sustainability in heritage settings. We’ll also look at available funding opportunities and introduce key carbon literacy concepts to support your journey toward a greener future.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Quick wins and practical energy-saving steps for heritage buildings
  • Longer-term investment options that protect both the environment and your building’s character
  • Basics of carbon literacy for heritage contexts
  • How to find and access funding for energy-efficient improvements
  • Case studies of successful sustainability initiatives in historic spaces
