The Future Researching the Past: Proceedings of the CBA Yorkshire Student Showcase Conference

This publication marks a departure from the three previous volumes in the CBA-Yorkshire monograph series. Rather than
concentrating on a site of regional or national significance within the historic county of Yorkshire this volume presents the contributions of speakers at a Showcase conference held in Sheffield in October 2025 entitled ‘The Future Researching The Past’. From the outset the aim of the conference was clear – to provide an opportunity for students and early career archaeologists to present their research interests to a wider audience. The eligibility criteria for the speakers were thematically and geographically focussed:

1. Students studying archaeology in a Yorkshire university, working on Yorkshire themed material or
on Yorkshire geographical area related subject matter;
2. Students studying archaeology outside the Yorkshire region but working on Yorkshire themed
material or on Yorkshire geographical area subject matter; or
3. Students studying archaeology in a Yorkshire University on any archaeological subject.
