SUMMARY:Challenges and Opportunities for Conserving Historic Parks and Gardens in the 21st Century
DESCRIPTION:yorParks and gardens are at the heart of our communities and national story but are often taken for granted or undervalued; historic parks and gardens have a critical role to play in nature recovery and helping combat the effects of climate change\, by providing established habitats and being highly effective for carbon capture and sequestration. John Watkins has been involved in a range of restoration\, conservation and interpretation projects including at Kenilworth and Bolsover Castles\, Audley End\, Osborne\, Mount Grace and Battle Abbey.

SUMMARY:Festival of Archaeology 2026
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to announce that the theme for the 2026 CBA Festival of Archaeology is “Archaeology and Nature”. The Festival will take place across the UK from Saturday 18th July to Sunday 2nd August. \nArchaeology and nature are interconnected revealing how humans have lived with\, shaped\, and been shaped by the environment around them. By exploring the past using the climate\, geology\, animals\, plants\, landscapes and the effect of nature on archaeological sites and buildings today\, we can understand how places and communities evolve and develop. \nThe Festival of Archaeology is the perfect time to bring these connections to life. Hosting an event — whether it’s a guided walk\, a talk\, community fieldwork project\, or a creative workshop — invites people to see that archaeology isn’t just about the past. It’s about our ongoing story with the world around us. \nBy celebrating archaeology and nature\, we can inspire curiosity and develop a deeper sense of belonging to the landscapes we share. We can’t wait to see how you interpret the theme. \n  \nSubmissions for events opens on 21st February 2026  \n  \n\n\n\n\nEvent Organisers Information and How to Submit your Event\nEvent listings and resource submissions for the 2026 Festival of Archaeology will be open on 21st February 2026.  If you would like to find out more about future Festival activities or are interested in organising an event in 2026 please sign up for our newsletters via the link below and check out the event organisers area where you’ll find lots of useful information on developing and delivering your activities. \nWe can’t wait to see what you have planned! \nPlease note that you must create a log in\, if you have not already done so\,  to access the Organisers Area and all the amazing resources.
